On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2024 (ISDH 2024). ISDH 2024 will take place on 11-13 July at COEX in the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea.

ISDH 2024 is a collaborative effort between the prestigious International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH) and the Korean Dental Hygienists Association (KDHA). It aims to unite dental hygienists from across the globe, providing an unparalleled platform for the exchange of cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and invaluable experiences.

Under the theme "Dental Hygienists, the Center of Oral Health," the symposium emphasizes the pivotal role dental hygienists play in optimizing oral health outcomes. Your dedication and expertise are instrumental in promoting comprehensive patient care and oral health. Throughout ISDH 2024, we will explore into various dimensions of dental hygienists' responsibilities, with a focused exploration of Collaboration, Optimization, Reimagination, and Equality.

Dear Colleagues,

I am personally inviting you to the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene in Seoul, Korea July 11 to 13, 2024.

It has been almost 30 years since we gathered in an Asian country and we are very excited to once again experience their culture and hospitality. The Korean Dental Hygienists will be your hosts and they are very excited to meet you.

Our theme “The Dental Hygienist…The Center of Oral Health” demonstrates our position in the pursuit of improved oral health. The Scientific Committee is actively developing a robust and diverse program to expose us to the leading-edge oral health research being conducted globally.

The Local Organizing Committee is giving special attention to each detail to make your visit and symposium experience second to none. We want you to leave Seoul with many fond memories, new relationships and a portfolio full of evidence-based practices to support you.

I have had the honor to attend the 2023 Korean Dental Hygienists’ Association conference and was suitably impressed by the convention facility – COEX Seoul. You will find the setting is an ideally placed and state of the art center. As much as the COEX was impressive, I found the Korean Dental Hygienists to be an amazing group of welcoming and efficient conference hosts. Your every wish will be met from exquisite landscapes, to amazing food, and beautiful people.

I have made this point in the past, but I feel it deserves repeating. Over our isolation through Covid, we relied on flat screens to communicate and interact with one another. Flat screens can do the job but they lack enthusiasm and connectivity. The buoyancy and contagious enthusiasm you feel when immersed in a group of like-minded professionals can never be perfectly described. You need to feel it. Once you attend an international gathering you will want to go to every one.

Meeting dental hygienists from all corners of the globe and hearing their stories along with hearing global researchers will send you home totally motivated to be the best dental hygienist.

As President of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists I am looking very forward to meeting dental hygienists from our member countries and beyond. Coming together in a spirit of collegial respect to demonstrate to the world that we are a profession grounded in evidence-based practice, ethics and prevention. Dental Hygienists are the Center of Oral Health.

The Covid restrictions have been lifted, travel is open and Seoul awaits you…
